The biggest difference between men's and women's lacrosse is the physical element. In men's lacrosse, physical contact between hip and shoulders is allowed. You can also hit the stick of the opponent with your stick, and gloves are seen as part of the stick. This can be done to conquer the ball, so it is only allowed if the ball is in the neighborhood. To prevent pain and injuries, the men wear 'gear' which protects you from hard blows.
The more technical features of this game: You are in the field with ten men, one goalie, three defenders, three midfielders, and three attackers. Unique to this sport is the combination of speed, physical contact, and finesse, which makes it suitable for everyone, and where everyone can express their unique skills. For example, if you are a bit smaller you have the advantage that you can slip through the defense lines. While when you are a bit bigger you can defend well.
In the Netherlands we play matches of 4x20 minutes.
